A student-friendly guide to using Educonnex safely and responsibly
Your school may give you access to Educonnex. These rules explain how to use Educonnex safely and responsibly. Your school may also have its own technology and online-safety rules.
Use it for school
- Use Educonnex only for the school activities your school has asked you to do.
- Only use the parts of the system that your account lets you use.
- Do not try to get into areas, accounts, or information that are not meant for you.
Keep your account safe
- Keep your password and sign-in details private.
- Do not share your account with friends or other people.
- Do not use another person’s account.
- If you think someone knows your password or has used your account, tell a teacher or another trusted staff member.
Respect other people’s privacy
- Only look at information you are allowed to see.
- Do not copy, screenshot, download, or share someone else’s personal information unless your school has told you that you may.
- Do not try to find private information about other students, families, or staff.
Be respectful
- Be kind and respectful when using any communication or text features.
- Do not bully, threaten, embarrass, impersonate, or harass another person.
- Do not upload or send offensive, hateful, sexual, violent, or otherwise inappropriate content.
- Do not use Educonnex to spread rumours, spam, or deliberately false information.
Do not try to break or misuse the system
- Do not try to get around security controls or restrictions.
- Do not use hacking tools, scripts, bots, or other tools to interfere with Educonnex.
- Do not upload viruses, malware, or harmful files.
- Do not deliberately change, delete, or damage information that you are not allowed to change.
Think before you enter or upload information
- Only enter information that your school has asked you to provide.
- Check that information you enter is accurate.
- Do not enter another person’s private or sensitive information unless your school has specifically asked you to and you are allowed to do so.
- If you are unsure whether something should be entered or uploaded, ask a teacher or trusted staff member first.
If something worries you
If you see something that makes you uncomfortable, think someone is misusing the system, or are worried about your account or another person’s safety, tell a teacher, parent/carer, or another trusted adult.
You will not be expected to investigate a security or safety problem yourself.
Your activity may be recorded
Educonnex and your school may keep records of sign-ins and actions performed in the system for safety, security, support, and audit purposes.
What can happen if these rules are broken
Your school may limit or remove your access if the system is misused. Serious misuse may also be reported to your school, parent/carer, or another appropriate person.
